The American Standard Princeton Bathtub Collection

The American Standard Princeton bathtub is manufactured by the American Standard Company. The American Standard Company came into existence over 130 years ago. For brief periods of time, American Standard produced various other products at their factories; however bathroom fixtures have always remained their most standard products.

Since it’s debut in 1988 the American Standard Princeton bathtub has been one of the companies leading standard products. The American Standard Princeton bathtub launched their new product invention called Americast. Americast revolutionized the production of cast iron bathtubs. Cast iron bathtubs are very durable but extremely heavy and difficult to manipulate into a bathtub. Due to this difficulty, getting design variety or features in a cast iron tub was minimal. A select few designs were available to the homeowner.

American Standard’s product Americast is fifty percent lighter than cast iron and more production friendly. The material is comprised of three layers. An enamel layer is bonded to a second layer of enamel grade alloy, which is then adhered to a material that has been injection molded into the desired bathtub shape. The result is a much deeper more comfortable bathtub that makes installation quicker and less expensive. The molded backing also helps prevent chipping and crazing of the enamel surface.

The Americast material allows attractive design features to be added to plain standard products. Some of these features include a lumbar support and headrest built into the American Standard Princeton bathtub.

The Princeton bathtub model was the first bathtub made of Americast that was offered to the public. It soon became a standard product line for the company. These bathtubs are currently found in homes and commercial institutions all over the world. The Princeton bathtub has now grown into an entire collection of bathroom fixtures.

Some of the standard products in the American Standard Princeton bathtub collection include bathtub/shower units, faucets, and bathtubs. The collection is designed to be simple, yet stylish; and flexible enough to fit any bathroom décor.

Princeton Bathtubs is available in several different models to accommodate a variety of bathrooms. One available model includes the addition of the Luxury Ledge to the bathtub. The Luxury Ledge is a wide built in shelf for holding toiletries.

The enamel used to make the America Standard Princeton bathtub is special as well. Ordinary enamel is made of porcelain. This produces a smooth surface but is prone to chipping and stains. American Standard answered this problem by creating “Stan Sure”. “Stan Sure” is made by mixing porcelain and hard quartz to create the enameling. The resulting surface has a smooth finish like porcelain but does not chip or stain as easily. “Stan Sure” is slip resistant for safety. The “Stan Sure” surface may reduce or eliminate the need for non slip mats or tape in your tub.

The American Standard Princeton bathtub is available in the classic original version that requires 3 walls to surround it. Today it is available in a recessed model for those that would like to put a custom enclosure around their tub. This allows for a freestanding bathtub if desired.

The American Standard Princeton bath tub even has a whirlpool option; so that you can create the perfect spa experience in your own home. American Standard’s products have been pleasing customers for over a century. The America Standard Princeton bathtub comes with limited lifetime warranty so you can be confident you’re purchasing a quality, long lasting tub for your bath.
